Curriculum Philosophy

Global Citizenship & Civics affirms that every learner is a changemaker. This course empowers Grade 11–12 students—especially those navigating displacement or systemic injustice—to explore systems of governance, rights, and civic action through trauma-informed, multilingual, and project-based instruction. Students build fluency in civic reasoning, ethical leadership, and global competencies while designing artifacts that reflect agency, accountability, and redesign for justice.

What’s Distinct About This Course?

  • Strand-Integrated Design:

Aligns with GlobalCore Appendices I (Global Citizenship & Civics), E (Global Competencies), H (Mindful Practice), and D (Social Studies)

  • Accelerated Pacing:

10-unit structure designed for full credit completion within a 10–12 month diploma pathway

  • Multilingual & Inclusive:

Vocabulary banks, translation spaces, and flexible artifact formats (oral, visual, written)

  • Restorative Pedagogy:

Emphasizes civic agency, ethical redesign, and
systems accountability

  • Portfolio-Based
