Curriculum Philosophy

Digital Literacy & Computational Thinking affirms that technology is a tool for creativity, equity, and civic agency. This course empowers Grade 11–12 learners—especially those navigating displacement or digital exclusion—to explore systems of information, design, and logic through trauma-informed, multilingual, and project-based instruction. Students build fluency in ethical technology use, data reasoning, and algorithmic thinking while designing solutions that serve community needs.

What’s Distinct About This Course?

  • Strand-Integrated Design:

Aligns with GlobalCore Appendices J (Digital Literacy & Computational Thinking), E (Global Competencies), F (Creative & Expressive Arts), and H (Mindful Practice)

  • Accelerated Pacing:

10-unit structure designed for full credit completion within a 10–12 month diploma pathway

  • Multilingual & Inclusive:

Vocabulary banks, translation spaces, and flexible artifact formats (oral, visual, written)

  • Restorative Pedagogy:

Emphasizes ethical reasoning, redesign, and digital
dignity

  • Portfolio-Based
    Assessment:

Each unit culminates in a learner-created artifact that demonstrates mastery across strands
